The Gold Star Award is the highest county level achievement award available to senior level 4-H members through the Texas 4-H and Youth Development Program. It will be awarded only once in a member’s 4-H career. To maintain the quality of the award, the following criteria will be considered the minimum. Any 4-H member not meeting these criteria will not be considered for the award. The maximum number of Gold Star Award recipients in Galveston County depends on enrollment numbers year to year.
Must be considered a senior 4-H member (9th-12th grade) as of August 31, 2025
Must have completed at least 3 years in 4-H, including the current year.
Must not have been previously awarded the Texas 4-H Gold Star Award
Must have completed three or more 4-H projects
Must have participated in three or more 4-H activities *see page 11 for list of activities
Must have exhibited leadership skills by serving as a 4-H officer or committee chair (club, county, district or state), and/or as a junior or teen leader in an activity or project
Must have participated in three or more community service activities
Must submit a 4-H Recordbook in the year they are to be considered for the award
