SHEEP/GOAT VALIDATION

Date: October 28, 2025

Time: 4:30pm-6:30pm

Where: Galveston County Fairgrounds (10 Jack Brooks Rd, Hitchcock, TX 77563)

If you are no longer validating an animal that you bought a tag for, please email darla.cox@co.galveston.tx.us and let her know.

The following must be present at validation:

• Animal being validated

• Registration Papers – for registered breeding animals (see section below for more info)

• Parent/Guardian – must be present to sign paperwork

  • Parents unable to attend validation must come to the Extension Office before validation to sign a waiver

• Exhibitor – should be present to sign paperwork

  • parents may sign for exhibitor if child cannot attend

Exhibitors with registered breeding animals:

1. Obtain original registration papers that meet ownership requirements

   1. Only exhibitor(s) as owner(s) with no ranch/farm names.

   2. Ownership dates must be on or before October 1 for sheep/goats.

2. Verify that identifying markings (tattoo/brand) exactly match what is on registration papers. If they don’t match, you can:

   1. Change registration papers to match animal

   2. Change animal to match registration papers

3. Submit a color copy of registration papers to County Extension Agent/Ag Teacher.
